Job 23:10But he knows the way that I take;
when he has tried me, I shall come out as gold.
11My foot has held fast to his steps;
I have kept his way and have not turned aside.
12I have not departed from the commandment of his lips;
I have treasured the words of his mouth more than my portion of food.
13But he is unchangeable, and who can turn him back?
What he desires, that he does.
14For he will complete what he appoints for me,
and many such things are in his mind.
How is it that God can be unchangeable- never new- and yet He is never old. If He is always new yet never changing, in our minds that doesn't work. When we get something new, it doesn't take very long and it is obsolete, or at least out of style. Yet God is the greatest of all, is the latest and greatest, yet the unchanging Creator and Sustainer of all things.
How awesome it is to know that we can have the Best today and forever because He calls some men unto Himself, to delight in Him and claim Him as our greatest joy, never to diminish, never to grow dim or stale, never to be trumped by what comes along in the future. He is the Highest and there is none who compare to Him. And He is ours if we receive Him. We get Him for all of eternity, but we must repent and delight in Him as our greatest joy and treasure. Only He can give us the desire to take hold of Him, and make Him our Sweet Love. He loves to draw men to Himself, but we must be willing to submit our wills to His, to be His humble servants.
How hard really is it to "work" for the greatest Lord in the universe? People are thrilled to do almost anything, if they have a great boss. How much greater is it to line up under someone who knows exactly what we need, knows our desires and passions and will complete the work He has started in us?
Praise the Lord, He never changes, He's never any other way, and He'll be the same tomorrow as he was and is today.
