Big Powerful God

Acts 5:38 So in the present case I tell you, keep away from these men and let them alone, for if this plan or this undertaking is of man, it will fail; 39 but if it is of God, you will not be able to overthrow them. You might even be found opposing God!" So they took his advice,

This is a great story, one worth the reread. I love that one of their own leaders gets up in the middle of the meeting and tells them to be careful what they do with the apostles. But even better is the line, "If it is of God you will not be able to overthrow them". How true that is. If God is in the work there in nothing that can stop it.

We must be on our knees that the work we are participating in is of God, because then we will have success. We must pray that He would give direction to carry out His plan for our lives. How great it is to know that if God is for us, none can be against us.

I was thinking this morning how I often diminish God, in my mind, when I don't give Him credit for His ability to do whatever He wants, whenever He wants to whomever He wants. He is BIG and deserves to be known as big. We need to talk about the greatness and power of our God when we have opportunity to do so, and often we don't make or take the opportunities.

The sunrise this morning was amazing; 1/4 moon, over the snow covered mountains, a single star and a dense layer of fog over the ground and God has each of those elements in His complete control. The seasons are not outside His control, the fact that the moon does the exact same thing every month- you can schedule Easter for the next hundred years if you want- you can set your course by the stars because they don't change and every other thing that we see and don't see are at His command. Amazing!
