Gladly live our Lives

Beneath the Cross of Jesus"
Words and Music by Keith & Kristyn Getty

Beneath the cross of Jesus—
The path before the crown—
We follow in His footsteps
Where promised hope is found.
How great the joy before us
To be His perfect bride;
Beneath the cross of Jesus
We will gladly live our lives.

This is only the last verse of this song, but I have been listening to it more intently than the others.

"The path before the crown"- we must walk where He has chosen for us to walk to receive the crown He has waiting for us.

"We follow in His footsteps, Where promised hope is found"- Who has hope but the believer who is truly following Christ?

"How great the joy before us To be His perfect bride"- I have never been a bride, but have been to plenty of weddings and I have watched many brides preparing for the "big day" and there is something different about them as they plan and prepare; something that even changes they way they look. Joyous anticipation for what lies ahead changes the countenance and the heart. The Church is the perfect Bride He gave His life for, we need to act like it. Not out of duty, but from the joy that is in being HIS perfect bride. WE are called and saved by Him, to be His chosen beloved.

"Beneath the cross of Jesus We will gladly live our lives- where else but beneath His cross, under His Lordship, can we find rest, hope, peace and joy? Without Him there is nothing to live life for; all becomes emptiness and vanity, but with Him, all becomes newness of life. We can gladly live our lives here, because we know there is so much more to come when it's over.

As the sun rises through my window and brings hope of a new day; hope of sunshine to warm the body, today is His day and I am looking forward to my soul being warmed by the Word, visiting with His people and worshiping the Great God we serve as only He deserves.
