Are You Looking?

In John 1:35-51, Jesus is calling His disciples to follow Him. What excitement must have been going through their own hearts and also the hearts of their families.

I did notice that much of the disciples' excitement was because "they had found Him". If they weren't looking they would not have found Him, at least they would not have known what they had found. These men had been waiting for this day their entire lives. Their father's family and his father and his father and all been waiting for this day.

Are we looking for the second coming of Christ like these people were looking for the first? We know so much more than they did and it seems that we are comfortable with this world and maybe don't want to leave right away. Is there something that you really want to do before Christ comes back? Or, can you say that you would love for Him to return RIGHT NOW?

We must be waiting with great anticipation and excitement for His return. This will be the best day believers will ever have here on earth and the worst day the non believers will ever have.

Is your heart fixed on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of the Father? Can you just see Him there, in all His glory, waiting to come back in triumph to take His Bride back? Can you picture the splendor this will be? Or, are you too focused on doing something "important" here first. Do you want Heaven, but not right now?

How about your family and friends? Are they ready to see the Warrior King riding on His white horse, sword raised high, ready to slay the world and rescue His Bride? Are they so enamored with the world that they are not interested in the things of God? We are called to be salt and light and to make disciples. How's that going for you? Would your approach be different today if you knew that Jesus was coming back this afternoon?

Oh Lord, we want You to return and take us back to Your Heaven. We want to be free from all this world of entanglements and distractions and sit at Your throne to worship You for all of eternity. We long to be in Your courts, walk on Your beautiful streets, sing with perfect voice, worship with pure hearts and learn to love You more each day. You are our Hero, please come back and pull us out of this world and take us Home to be with You. May we be waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, with the greatest of expectations.
